Directions to reach the Village Isola dei Gabbiani

Where we are and how to get here

On the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, the Isola dei Gabbiani (or Isuledda), a small, 1 km2 peninsula that looks out over the Archipelago of La Maddalena, is easily reachable by car from the island's main sea ports and airports.

Our Camping Village is located at the beginning of the natural isthmus that creates the bays of Porto Pollo and Porto Liscia, and falls within the municipality of Palau (in the province of Olbia-Tempio). It is around 8 km from Palau itself.

Those arriving from Olbia should head northwards, taking the SS125 road heading towards Arzachena – Palau. Distance: around 50 km. Drive time: around 1 hour.

Arriving by boat at Porto Torres (in the province of Sassari), you can choose to take the SS291 road for Sassari, then the SS674 road for Tempio Pausania and, from there, the SS133 road heading towards Palau. Distance: around 130 km. Drive time: around 2.5 hours. Or you can opt for the SP81 coastal road heading towards Castelsardo, before taking the SS134 road and than the SP90 road for Santa Teresa di Gallura, which is less than 25km from us. In this case, the distance is around 120 km and the drive time is around 2 hours.

From Alghero (in the province of Sassari). If you land at the small airport of Fertilia – Alghero (Sassari), you can rent a car from one of the numerous rental companies, but it is preferable to book it in advance, particularly in the high season. Having left the airport, head towards Sassari on the SS291 road, but do not enter the town. You then have two possibilities: head for Sorso and take the coast road for Castelsardo Santa Teresa di Gallura; or opt to head for Ploaghe – Tempio Pausania. Distance: around 150 km. Drive time: around 2.5 hours.

If you’re arriving by boat at Arbatax (in the province of Ogliastra), it is preferable to head towards Lanusei, from where you can take the SS389 Var road heading towards Nuoro (the road referred to as the La Nuoro – Lanusei road). On reaching Nuoro, take the SS131DCN road for Olbia, and then the SS125 for Palau. Distance: around 220 km. Drive time: around 3.5 hours.

From Cagliari, head towards the SS131 road. On approaching Abbasanta, turn onto the SS131DCN road and continue to Olbia; from Olbia, take the SS125 road until Palau. Distance: around 320 km. Drive time: around 4 hours.

If you’re arriving by air, you can use our taxi or shuttle services. If you’re flying with Meridiana, you can use the direct airport shuttle and reach Palau without having to pick up your luggage – you will find your bags in the hold of the shuttle once you reach Palau. Please confirm that you would like to use this option when you purchase your ticket.

If you would prefer not to use these services, you can always reach us using public transport. From Olbia, when operating, you can take the Turmotravel coach heading for Santa Teresa, getting off at Palau; from there, take the Caramellitours shuttle, which will drop you off around 500 metres from the tourist village.

Along with our partners, we continuously strive to improve the accessibility of our website and the pages for booking rooms and/or purchasing additional products and services related to the stay. We firmly believe it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible, and unhindered use, even for those of us with disabilities.

In our ongoing efforts to improve and consistently address accessibility issues, we regularly scan all web pages using accessibility scanners provided by third-party commercial partners to identify and fix any potential accessibility barriers on our site. Despite our efforts to make all our web pages and content fully accessible, some content may not yet have been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be due to not having yet found or implemented the most appropriate technological solution.
